Can we?? This very question have been bugging my nights going almost sleepless . The recent Delhi gang rape case which almost the very nation has thrown this very question right in front of us . How can we be such savage beasts ?
Jyoti Singh Pandey (aka Damini, Nirbhaya, Amanat) the girl who lost the battle against death and succumbed to her injuries has a heart wrenching story to tell . This very incident has brought to light our very approach, thinking and our middle-class ultra conservative mindset . And adding woes to our sorrow are the deliberate non-sense comments from our so-called esteemed leaders . We the Indians still thinks our women a commodity, a toy for Sex & Pleasure . What grieved me the most, is even after such an outrageous incident it has hardly affected many of us. We are still in our materialistic world of pleasure . And what was more shocking, that few of my female friends are quite unaware of such incidents as if it had been a daily debate of discussion and they are just the mute spectators . They are even unaware of any helpline that do exists, tailor made by the Govt. for their safety . There were even few of my male friends who came forward to say that what was the need to go out in night for a movie . WTF?? Are you trying to say that girls are born to be enslaved by others . Don't they have the right to speak or act for themselves . If a girl runs away with a boy, its the girl who burns the heat of victim . If a girl is raped it's she who is ostracized from society while the boy moves with pride and valor . If a girl denies to someone's proposal, they threw acid on them .Is this for what our fore fathers fought for freedom .This nation has to change . There is lot to quote as examples . Haryana's Khap Panchayat is no better than the murderers who kill somebody only in the name of family reputation and dignity . Even there are so called well-educated men who even in this date don't hesitate to ask for a dowry and what's more interesting is their argument they put in place to prove their point .Shame !!! Today I really feel hurt and irritate how we Indians have become . In the name of religion, name, sex, caste we have killed our conscience, we have awaken the demons that had been dormant for years . Sometime I curse the God whom I have been following blindly till date from my childhood that "At least how can he be so indifferent to that poor girl " RIP .
